Pickup Trucks Recalled for Seat Belt System Defect

Approximately 5,220 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks are undergoing a recall, in an announcement made by the National Highway Traffic Administration. There are defective electronics in the vehicle which do not properly warn of an improperly latched seat belt. This may cause injuries for the vehicle occupants during a car wreck if the seat belt is not latched properly. The defect has been linked to unsafe electrical connections, which cause the seat belt warning system to not function correctly. According to news reports, GM will start to notify vehicle owners and replace defective seat belt electronics free of charge.
