Blow-Up Doll Passenger gets Driver Ticketed

A blow-up doll does not count as a viable HOV lane passenger, according to the Washington State Patrol. While some might know that inanimate objects don’t count as a free pass for the often faster lane, a Federal Way driver was ticketed Wednesday morning for the act.
According to the Washington State Patrol, troopers patrolling the HOV lane on northbound Interstate 5 around 8:30 a.m. caught the imposter passenger, according to news reports. Troopers were near the 320th Street exit when they noticed a car pull quickly out of the HOV lane.
As they more closely looked at the vehicle, police officers noticed the passenger looked like a doll.
WSP troopers pulled over the vehicle to find a blow up doll wearing a seatbelt and a blanket, to make her appear as if she was sleeping, in the front passenger seat.
Troopers fined the driver $124 for the violation.
As a Tacoma car accident attorney, I think it’s good that the state patrol is properly enforcement of the HOV lane during rush hour. Although it may be a pain to sit in traffic on the Seattle freeways, properly managing the HOV lanes play an important role in safety and flow of traffic.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident in the HOV lane, contact a personal injury laywer in Tacoma.
